Sma TShabalala
Sma Tshabalala has been involved in the fine art world for over 20 years.
Hailing from Hlatikhulu village in the Drakensberg mountains, her passion for art brought her to the Midlands where she could perfect her craft at one of the premier Foundries in Natal. The attention to detail required in foundry work, along with a constant source of inspiration, allowed Sma to nurture her love for creating.
Much of Sma’s portfolio is inspired by her Zulu heritage; while her early work featured tribal members of the Zulu people, she now forays into wildlife that have particular meaning to her community or to which she feels a strong connection. Sma’s work has been featured in galleries across South Africa, making its way into both public and private collections alike.
