Two Artists. One Conversation. A Captivating Exhibition Not to Miss.
Step inside The Platform Gallery and experience an intimate dialogue between two of Cape Town’s most distinctive artistic voices: sculptor James Cook and multidisciplinary artist Lorraine van Wyk. Their work, though strikingly different in medium, shares a quiet intensity – a meditation on form, presence, and the unseen.
This marks the gallery’s first special exhibition at its new Cape Town space – a bold, beautiful debut that has already captured the attention of collectors and art lovers alike. Originally scheduled to close at the end of June, the exhibition has been extended into July by popular demand.
Whether you’re drawn to the tactile romance of Cook’s sculpture or the evocative fantasy of van Wyk’s lens, this exhibition invites you to slow down, look closer, and feel deeply.

Meet the artists:
LORRAINE VAN WYK is a multidisciplinary artist renowned for her striking portraiture. Her work seamlessly blends the realism of photography with the expressive qualities of impasto-style painting, resulting in dynamic, tactile, and emotive artworks. Her subjects often explore themes of identity, archetype, and the quiet dialogue between what is seen, what is remembered, and what is felt.
JAMES COOK is a sculptor known for his evocative bronze pieces that draw on classical forms executed with elements of abstraction. His distinctive style offers layered interpretations of the human form and often explores themes of intimacy, self discovery and the complexities of connection.
