Michael Mawdsley
Michael trained and worked as a goldsmith and jeweler for over 25 years before turning his creative talents (and skilled hands) to sculpture. His attention to detail and technical skill is obvious to even a casual observer, but it is his vision and drive that stands out most. Across many different fields and mediums, Michael honors his inner creativity, which has always been at the core of his work.
For Michael, the process of taking a concept from an idea, to a drawing, to a model, and all the way through to a finished bronze is incredibly satisfying. From his background as a jeweler, he learned to be meticulous in his detail, and exact in his proportions. His strive for perfection in his work is obvious, often spending many months on a single piece.
Michael’s sculptural work to date covers the triad of African Wildlife, the Human Form and also the Local Flora, and graces private, corporate, and public collections across the globe.

THE RIDE (POLO PLAYER)
Among the most beautifully patinaed and the expertly crafted sculptures in the Platform ‘The Ride’ is definitely a front runner for best in the gallery. A polo player in the act of approaching the ball and moments before he strikes at it with his mallett. The detail in texture and colouring of each element to this artwork was considered and carried out to deliver a sculpture that appears full of motion and character.

THE CATCH
